He’s got it bad

August 1, 2009

After our triumphant return from Brighton, Danny decided once again he wanted to go fishing. It was chucking it down outside and to be honest all I wanted to do was just sit infront of the playstation and race monster trucks. Surely this should be the other way around. So we dug out the wet wether gear, grabbed an 8ft spinning rod a pocket full of small spinners and headed to a stretch of the tidal thames just down the road. 2nd cast saw something nail the spinner and leap clear of the surface. Odd i thought, our intended quarry were perch and this was most un-perch like. After a brief tussel Danny slid the net under a nice brown trout of about 1.5lb. We’d gathered quite a crowd and with lots of children watching I couldn’t bring myself to dispatch it for dinner and despite Danny’s protestations we returned the fish without a photograph. Soon the rain moved our newly aquired fan club off and we set about catching some of the river’s most handsome fish. The proud and bristling perch.
